Welcome to Herring house

Herring House Trust is a registered charitable Housing Association working for singe homeless people in the Borough of Great Yarmouth. We provide emergency accommodation in our 31 bed hostel and move on accommodation in shared houses around the Town. We have a resettlement team that offers support and access to housing for people moving into their own homes.

You may be homeless yourself or you may know someone who is homeless, if you are single and over the age of 18 years we may be able to help.

Our mission is to provide a secure and safe environment with access to support, to help people begin to tackle the problems that may have caused their homelessness. By working in partnership with many local specialist agencies we can offer a range of services to meet the needs of homeless people.

We provide access to housing and longer term support. We offer opportunities for people to retrain or gain new skills which helps give back self-esteem and confidence. We understand the need to work with specialist services to get people the support and guidance they require. And most importantly, we are service user focused, which means we work at the pace of each individual and help them set their own personal goals for moving on.

Our Aims

The aims of Herring House

Herring House has three clear objectives which are at the root of everything we do:

  • To be a safe and accessible environment where individuals can begin the process of identifying and addressing the issues resulting in their homelessness. This approach will be inclusive for all individuals, supporting those who are at a point of change and those for whom change may be a longer term objective
  • To offer a non-judgemental environment where individuals can work towards a planned route of resettlement
  • To provide a tailored support plan approach, by working in partnership with specialist agencies to provide in-reach services and access to statutory & voluntary support services as required
